Cylinder heads, valves, springs, rockers etc.

Dec 2021
Heads were thoroughly cleaned, deburred gasket faces and readied.

In the pic, guides were sized checked. Head heated to 100°C, guides chilled in freezer. Teflon paste by Loctite was used to help lube the fit and to seal guide-to-head. Notice thermocouple sits in oil channel for measuring temperature.

Pen points to raw edge which was carefully rounded with a bit of wet&dry paper. Tickling this simply aids installation.

Rocker spindle seal 19mm ID x 2.65mm. Viton, brown FKM. Bought from Aliexpress.
Regular Nitrile O-rings suffer from excess heat, then leak.

Setting rocker endplay. I turned spacers of the correct dimensions. The shafts were recessed into the spacers to set endplay of .004" - .006". Spacer with a few thou recess.

Heating the spacers to harden with Brownells surface hardening compound. Warning: don't breathe the smoke form this stuff. It smells highly toxic.
